Modern Freezer Meals Cookbook Review – Is it Worth it?

So you found the Modern Freezer Meals: Simple Recipes to Cook Now and Freeze for Later cookbook on Amazon and you’re thinking about picking it up? You’ll definitely want to read this review first because I’ve reviewed hundreds of cookbooks in the last three years and might know a thing or two about them.

If you are short on time I’ll make a quick recommendation. Don’t buy this cookbook today. Sign up for a FreezerFit freezer meals membership instead because they add 250 freezer meal recipes per year. Why buy a cookbook that has a limited number of recipes when you can get unlimited recipes, shopping lists, a member community, and more; all for a low one-time signup fee? You can read the FreezerFit review here. They even offer free cooking classes you can find on the website.

Now, if you are still interested in Modern Freezer Meals Cookbook, I’ll break it down here. This cookbook is great for some and not so great for others. Let me explain.

Who is This Freezer Meal Cookbook For?

This cookbook is for busy people who want to stock up their freezer with easy meals. Does that sound like you? The meals are easy to prepare so you can put them in the freezer for weeks or months. When you cook the meals they come out fresh as if you prepared them the same day. Not so fast though, there are some downsides to this specific cook that I’ll get to below.

This cookbook is also for you if you’re a fan of Ali Rosen. Ali has made TV appearances and is a contributor to Dr Oz as a food investigator. You may have seen her in places like NPR or The Today Show.

Who is This Cookbook NOT For?

This Modern Freezer Meals cookbook is NOT for you if you already know about preparing freezer meals. The recipes in this cookbook are ok but they’re not great. A lot of the recipes have too much salt and the recipes don’t offer substitutes.

I truly believe Ali put a lot of hard work into the cookbook so I do not want to say many bad things about it. The cookbook is worth the cost but there are better options you can purchase with your money.

The Modern Freezer Meals Recipes

Salt. A lot of it. This would be okay if there were substitutes suggested for the saltier recipes. I’m okay having some salty meals but I know it’s a problem for a lot of my readers so I have to warn you. Here is a review that’s on Amazon:

The beginning of this cookbook explaining the best techniques to successfully freeze meals was very good. The recipes seem complicated, many ingredients, and way way to much salt. I cannot believe how much salt all these recipes call for. Even for someone that does not need to really watch their salt intake, the amount these recipes call for is incredible up to 4 teaspoons in one recipe. Out of the entire cookbook, I only tore out 5 recipes I will use.

Christine

So if you do not like salty meals you may want to stay away.

The Modern Freezer Meals cookbook has variety in the recipes. This can be good or bad. Are you looking for cookie recipes, keto recipes, vegetarian recipes, side dishes, or pasta? This cookbook is all over the place so it is good for variety but it is not good if you want whole meals to prepare for lunch or dinner.

Final Conclusion for the Modern Freezer Meals Cookbook

To sum up this cookbook review I want to say that Modern Freezer Meals: Simple Recipes to Cook Now and Freeze for Later is a good book overall. I recommend buying it if you are the kind of person that loves to have a lot of physical cookbooks in your kitchen. I love cookbooks but in today’s day and age, I prefer online memberships.

Would you rather pay $20 for 100 recipes or $97 for unlimited recipes? I have reviewed hundreds of cookbooks but nothing beats a good online membership for recipes, shopping lists, labels, and a community feel. This is the freezer meal membership I recommend instead.
